Health, Safety and Environmental Policy Quality Policy

HSSEQ

SeaBird has a well qualified team of HSSEQ Group members.
The corporate HSSEQ Group will continually improve processes down to the operations level.
In order to achieve a streamlined operation throughout our fleet, the corporate HSSEQ Group focuses on longer-term and more strategic activities.

HSSEQ Group’s main focuses are:

Training & Development

  • Expanded multi-year training program for all Shore- and ship-based staff during 2008
  • In-depth training on seismic technologies
  • Improved training methods give us an effective dissemination of technical and operational information throughout our employees.

Health

  • The health record of all SeaBird onboard personnel was good during 2008
  • We provide the best possible service to all crew members; each vessel has a dedicated medic that oversees the health of all staff at all times.

Safety

  • Continuously training is undertaken by new control systems and our Safety system at SeaArc (our VPN, virtual private network) and can continue seamlessly if crew change vessels.
  • By introducing “Safety Critical Systems”, SeaBird has a major benefit in terms of direct control at worksites.

Security

  • SeaBird has during 2008 started a process to considerably strengthen our security policies, – particularly in light of terrorism, piracy and border issues in locations in which we operate.
  • To secure the safety of our crew, a policy which we instigated is that no SeaBird vessel will pass through the Gulf of Aden unless accompanied by armed escorts, due to the threat posed by pirates

Environment

  • SeaBird complies with MARPOL including the ISO 14001 environmental management standard.
  • Our environmental management system (EMS) is including all international laws and regulations relevant to our operations at sea.
  • Through fleet studies, we determine the best course of action to maintain the highest environmental standards.
  • Our waste management program is updated in 2008 to meet our environmental responsibilities.

Quality

  • Our quality management system (QMS) is based on and measured against the principles of ISO 9001
  • QMS is tailored specific to meet the particular requirements of the seismic industry and our customers.
  • Our quality management system runs hand-in-hand with our customer pre-qualification system
